Dhangadhi: A dispute has erupted between Mayor of Krishnapur Municipality of Kanchanpur Karna Bahadur Hamal and staff of Agriculture Development Directorate Dipayal.

On Saturday, the staff of the Agriculture Directorate had come to Krishnapur to sign an agreement with the farmers for the distribution of agricultural implements. Mayor Hamal told them to get out of the 'thieves'. "The directorate had sent a group one by one. We have come here in collaboration with the Agriculture Branch. You had just started work. Mayor Snake came. He called us thieves and told us to get out,” a technician told Dinesh Khabar.

A group including Janak Bahadur Singh, technical assistant of Krishi Gyan Kendra Kanchanpur, who went to sign an agreement with farmers under the grant machinery tool distribution program, has come to Krishnapur. They have reached an agreement with the farmers on the East-West Highway after Mayor Hamal did not allow them to enter into an agreement inside the office.

"I was not allowed to work inside. We worked on the road. He was taken out saying that he had come without asking him. But we had sent the information on the 6th. We had contacted the agriculture branch, but Mayor Sap treated us like this,” he said.

Janak Bahadur Singh, technical assistant, said that Mayor Hamal had chased them away saying that they would not be allowed to work on Saturday. He claims that the municipality has been working even on Saturdays. Mayor Hamal did not pick up the phone.

A team of the Directorate of Agriculture Development has come to Kanchanpur to sign an agreement for the grant of Rs 2 million to 15 farmers of Krishnapur Municipality.

The Directorate of Agriculture Services under the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives has started signing an agreement for the purchase of tools such as Champa tractors, mini tillers and rotavets.
