More than 10,000 families likely to be affected by natural calamity in Kailali this year

Dhangadhi: The locals of Kailali district have been warned to be cautious due to incessant rain. The area is kept on high alert for disaster risk reduction and response.

The floods and landslides have been causing huge loss of property in the district every year. Chief District Officer of Kailali, Khagendra Rijal, said that the Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan were approved on June 16. He informed that Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have been kept on high alert for rescue. He also said that preparations for disaster response have been discussed with the Nepal Red Cross and other donor agencies.

Similarly, Chief District Officer Rijal told Dinesh Khabar that he has requested the Disaster Risk Reduction Committees at all local levels of Kailali to adopt high vigilance and appoint contact persons in each ward and procure necessary materials. Meanwhile, Rijal said that according to the review of the past years and the weather forecast, it is estimated that more than 10,000 families will be affected by the natural calamity in Kailali this year.
