What happened to Asmita of Dadeldhura?
Dhangadhi: A female employee was working as an office assistant at the Jamrani Basic Health Unit Center in Parashuram Municipality-8 of Dadeldhura. Asmita Devi Dhami had been working at the health center for the past two and a half years and her husband was a farmer.
Household expenses and the education of her two daughters depended on Asmita's income. After the Coronavirus pandemic broke out, she started helping the health workers at the health facility. Similarly, she went to work on June 16. A vaccination campaign against Coronavirus was also conducted from the health unit center Jamrani where she works. Some doses of the vaccine were left after the campaign. Her office had asked her to return the remaining vaccine to Jogbuda Hospital.
After that, carrying the vaccine 'carrier' of the vaccine and wearing a mask on her face, Asmita left Jamrani for Jogbuda at 11 o'clock. Her family was worried when she didn't from Jogbuda in the evening. They called Asmita but her phone switched off. But Asmita used to come to the office from home every day, but because of the covid vaccination campaign, she stayed at a relative's house near the office one day and reach home the next day for her daughters.
For that reason, the family did not pay much attention to that day, as they wanted thought she stayed at a relative's house. She did not reach her office the next day (July 17) but the head of the office speculated that she may have been tired as she had gone to Jogbuda yesterday (June 16) and was resting for the same reason. And her family also thought that she had gone straight to the office from her relative's house. But around 3 pm, Asmitas husband called her and her mobile phone was switched off.
After that, when I tried to contact the head of the office at 5 pm, I found out that Asmita had not come to the office from Jogbuda. Immediately, the bell rang on the phone of ward chairman Govinda Bohara. He was informed that Asmita was missing. The ward chairperson also called Asmita's office and relatives in Puntura and Jagati. But information about Asmita could not be obtained from anywhere. "Everyone inquired about Asmita, who has been unknown for two days, but could not find her.
It was learned that she had appeared up to Naula, 900 meters away from Deori,' said Ward Chairman Bohara. "The search for Asmita started the next day (April 18) after consulting the villagers." He said that the police was also informed on the same day. A group of about 100 villagers searched for her but she was not found that day. But the next day, Asmita's body was found 70 meters away from the main road to Jogbuda.
"A slipper was found near the body. Thrown with a face mask, nearby was the carrier of the corona vaccine she was carrying. There was an impression that she was forcibly dragged to the spot," said Ward Chairman Bohara. According to him, the nature of the body found in Hatwani Community Forest of Ward No. 9 shows that Asmita was raped. "It simply came to our notice then. There were bruises all over her body and hand bruises, ' said ward president Govinda Bohara. 'An empty bottle of 'Blue Diamond' was also found near the body. So we suspect that she was raped and killed.'
Similarly, Asmita's husband Amar Bahadur Dhami is also suspecting that Asmita was killed. He said that Asmita had no ill relationship with anyone in the area. He also urged to make the facts of the incident public soon. Asmit's body is being examined at Jogbuda Hospital. A team of public prosecutors including Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahendra Nepal has reached Jogbuda for further investigation into the incident.
Separate teams from the Federal Police Unit Office and the State Police Office have been deployed to investigate the incident, said Superintendent of Police Yogendra Thapa.
