Students' organizations in Kailali demand removal of irregular power cuts

Dhangadhi: Students' organization in Kailali have drawn the attention of NEA stating that online classes have been affected due to irregular power cuts. The student organizations have jointly handed over a memorandum to the Nepal Electricity Authority Dhangadhi Distribution Center and demanded not to cut electricity irregularly.

Kumar Badaila, president of Aneraswavyu Kailali near CPN (Maoist), Bhesh Bam, president of Nevisangha near Congress, Subash Kiran Joshi, president of Akhil (Revolutionary) Kailali, Puskar Joshi, president of Akhil-Krantikari, Janak Archay, president of Akhil (Sixth), Pratik Joshi, spokesperson of RPP Union And Nilam Chaudhary, a representative of the Samajwadi Students Union, jointly handed over a memorandum with a five-point demand at the Electricity Authority Distribution Center, Dhangadhi.

There is a problem of power cut even though alternative teaching methods and online classes have been on-going for the past six months due to the lockdown and the prohibition of large gatherings at the risk of the pandemic They have demanded to support be given to teaching and learning by stopping unannounced power cuts, they have also demanded to properly manage unorganized power lines and poles, end corruption in the office, monitor the collection of exorbitant tariffs from the tenants, to move the transformers installed for private use by companies to the appropriate place and abolish the fee charged from the service recipients in the name of maintenance.

Understanding the memorandum, Acting Chief of Electricity Authority Dhangadhi Distribution Center Rakesh Shah has responded that there is no schedule for power cut, he also informed that power was being cut due to maintenance work.
