Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan city is gearing up to conduct tests for Coronavirus at the community level. The sub-metropolitan has stated that it is preparing to collect samples from eight wards of the city in the first phase. Laxmi Raj Upadhyaya, public health inspector of the health branch of the sub-metropolitan, informed that it has been decided to first test ward no 1, 2, 9, 10, 12, 14, 18 and 19 in the first phase

Upadhyaya said that the families and neighbours of the infected people found from these wards are preparing to test two members each. At present, samples of about 50 people are being collected in one ward and the status of community infection in those wards will be ascertained. But it is not clear when the trial will begin. However, Upadhyaya said that the sub-metropolitan does not have enough technicians.

He said that two lab technicians in the sub-metropolitan have been deployed to collect samples of those who have come in contact with the infected. But he said more manpower is needed for community testing. We are coordinating with the state government and the health office. In Dhangadhi, health workers have said that the infection is spreading at the community level after Coronavirus was detected in people without any travel history.
