30-year-old man who died in quarantine was cremated without being tested for COVID-19

A 30-year-old man from Patan Municipality Ward No. 6, who died on Saturday night in the quarantine of Baitadi was cremated on Sunday without being tested for COVID-19. Madan Singh Mahara, chief of the health branch of Patan Municipality, said that the cremation of the youth was conducted by his relatives who were staying with him at the quarantine.

The RDT reports of all his relatives and well-wishers that accompanied the family during the cremation ceremony reported negative. However, Yogesh Prasad Bhatta, head of the health office in Baitadi said, “He had returned from Bangalore, India on Saturday. He was in quarantined at around 11 am and he fainted at 6 pm. He was rushed to the nearby Patan Primary Health Center for a treatment but he died around 8.30 pm. We had collected his throat swab and sent to Dhangadhi for a PCR test but the reports are yet to come.
