Mahendranagar: Encroached areas along the East–West Mahendra Highway from Gaddachauki in Kanchanpur to Chisapani in Kailali are set to be cleared.

The Road Division Office, Mahendranagar, issued a public notice today stating that the road boundary of the Mahendra Highway section (Gaddachauki–Attariya–Chisapani) extends 25 meters on both sides from the road centerline. The office has given a 15-day deadline to remove sheds, huts, and other structures built within the designated road area.

The notice also urged people not to construct temporary or permanent buildings and sheds, store construction materials, display goods for sale, or discharge sewage and water into roadside drains without approval from the Department of Roads.

According to the notice, all temporary and permanent structures, sheds, and other constructions built within the highway’s road boundary must be demolished or removed within 15 days.

The office further warned that if the encroaching structures are not removed within the stipulated time, they will be cleared in accordance with Section 19(3) of the Public Roads Act, 1974 (2031 B.S.), and the costs incurred during the removal process will be recovered from the concerned individuals or organizations.
