First-time voters in Baitadi focus on candidate capability and vision

Dasarathchand (Baitadi): Rabindra and Hima Bohara of Sigas Rural Municipality-9 are preparing to cast their votes for the first time in the upcoming House of Representatives election on Falgun 21. While excited to exercise their franchise, both emphasized the importance of careful candidate selection.

Rabindra said that along with the excitement of voting for the first time, he feels a heightened sense of responsibility. He plans to vote for a candidate who prioritizes youth and addresses the current needs of the country.

Similarly, Hima expressed her intention to support capable and visionary leadership, stating that the country’s development depends on electing leaders with strong agendas and clear commitments.

Eleven candidates are contesting for the House of Representatives seat in Baitadi, including both newcomers and returning candidates. Pushkar Bhatta of Purchaundi Municipality-4, also a first-time voter, said he will vote only for candidates who are qualified, ethical, and have clear plans that rise above personal interests.

According to the District Election Office, Baitadi has a total of 156,372 registered voters—78,987 men, 77,383 women, and two others—across 129 polling stations. From a security perspective, 33 polling stations have been classified as highly sensitive, 28 as sensitive, and 68 as general by the District Security Committee.
