Darchula registers 92,948 voters ahead of Falgun 21 elections
Khalanga: A total of 92,948 voters have been registered in Darchula for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21, marking an increase from the previous election.
Until the last election, the district had 90,782 registered voters. The recent update of the voter list by the Election Commission added 2,166 new voters. According to Chitra Prakash Joshi, Information Officer at the District Election Office, 47,755 of the registered voters are male and 45,193 are female.
Municipality-wise statistics have also been released. In Darchula’s two municipalities and seven rural municipalities, there are 15,516 voters in Shailyashikhar Municipality and 14,143 in Mahakali Municipality. Among the rural municipalities, Malikarjun has 11,878 voters, Lekam 10,311, Naugad 10,088, Marma 9,613, Duhu 8,441, Byas 8,162, and Api Himal 4,796 voters.
The district has been set up with 112 polling stations and 143 polling centers for the elections. Joshi stated that the District Election Office has intensified preparations to ensure the elections are conducted fairly, safely, and successfully. Security arrangements, technical preparations, and election management activities have been ramped up as the Falgun 21 elections approach.
