Gen-z demands action against UML Youth cadres over assault during protest

Dhangadhi: The Gen-z group has submitted a written application to the District Administration Office demanding an investigation and action against UML Youth Association cadres involved in the assault on Gen-z youth during a protest against UML leader Mahesh Basnet on Wednesday.

They alleged that the incident was a direct interference in their constitutional right to peaceful protest, claiming that incitement, threats, assault, and even an attempt to attack with a khukuri occurred during the demonstration.

On Thursday, Gen-z youth reached the Administration Office again and staged a demonstration with placards. Gen-z leader Bishnu Khadka said there would be no dialogue until those involved in the attack are arrested.

Chief District Officer Hiralal Regmi said separate discussions are being held with leaders of the Youth Association and the Gen-z group regarding the incident. During Wednesday’s protest, cadres of the Youth Association had assaulted Gen-z youth.
