Tensions escalate in Dhangadhi as UML Leader Basnet’s arrival sparks clash; several injured

Dhangadhi: Tensions have escalated in Dhangadhi following the arrival of UML leader Mahesh Basnet, after youths protesting against him were attacked.

Protesters had gathered near Gen-z Road as Basnet was being welcomed at Dhangadhi Airport and escorted to the program venue. UML-affiliated Youth Association activists reportedly stopped a motorcycle convoy at the protest site and attacked the Gen-z demonstrators, breaking through the police security cordon.

During the clash, several youths, including Sarita Joshi, the Genji leader of Dhangadhi-4, were injured. She sustained injuries to her hand and is undergoing treatment at Nisarga Hospital.

Basnet arrived in Dhangadhi to address the National Awakening Gathering of the Youth Association.
