Nearly 29,000 migrant workers leave the Far-west in a year

Dhangadhi: The number of people from Sudurpaschim Province seeking employment abroad has risen sharply this year. According to the Annual Economic Activity Study 2081-82, a total of 28,991 individuals from the province obtained work permits for foreign employment during the fiscal year.

Among them, 26,379 are men and 2,612 are women. This figure represents approximately 3.45 percent of all work permit holders nationwide.

The study indicates a 20.67 percent increase in foreign-bound workers from the province compared to fiscal year 2080-81.

Experts attribute the growing outflow to limited job opportunities within the country, the appeal of higher earnings abroad, and a smoother foreign employment process.
