Nepal Telecom tower in Lekam, Darchula remains non-operational
Darchula: The Nepal Telecom tower constructed in Lekam Rural Municipality, Darchula, has not yet come into operation. Even after nearly six months since its construction, the tower remains idle due to the lack of necessary equipment.
Locals of Lekam Rural Municipality-1, Sarmoli (Kot), have complained that they are deprived of reliable telephone and internet services because the tower is not operational. They said that despite the completion of the tower’s construction six months ago, Nepal Telecom has failed to make it functional due to negligence.
Residents have been facing communication problems, particularly during rain and at night, as phone and internet connections often fail. Calls are reportedly difficult to receive even during the day, and conversations are frequently disrupted.
Locals accused Nepal Telecom of not paying sufficient attention to operating the tower. However, Krishna Gurung, Chief of Nepal Telecom Darchula, said the tower will be brought into operation soon. He explained that the installation of necessary equipment for the Malikarjun Rural Municipality tower is currently in progress.
Gurung added that equipment will be installed in the Lekam tower immediately after the completion of the Malikarjun installation work, and assured that the tower in Lekam-1, Sarmoli, will be operational by Mangsir 15 at the latest.
