Over 100 vehicle accidents reported in Kailali in three months
Dhangadhi: The number of vehicle accidents in Kailali has surged in recent months. The District Traffic Police Office, Kailali, reported that 104 accidents occurred between Shrawan and Kartik 17 of the current fiscal year.
These accidents have claimed 18 lives and injured 215 people. Traffic Police Chief Chakra Bahadur Deuba provided a breakdown of the incidents, stating that in Shrawan, 33 accidents resulted in 2 deaths and 65 injuries. In Bhadra, 17 accidents caused 1 death and 31 injuries.
The number of accidents rose to 29 in Asoj, resulting in 7 deaths and 70 injuries. In the recent period up to Kartik 17, 25 accidents claimed 8 lives and injured 49 people.
Chief Deuba noted that the majority of accidents are caused by drivers violating speed limits, ignoring lane discipline, and driving under the influence of alcohol. He emphasized that the traffic police have been actively conducting road safety campaigns in recent days.
He urged both drivers and passengers to exercise caution, stressing that speed control and adherence to traffic rules are essential. The rising number of accidents in Kailali underscores the urgent need for stricter attention to road safety.
