Stakeholders demand immediate appointment of Vice-Chancellor and Registrar for Shaheed Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University
Dhangadhi: Local stakeholders have welcomed the government’s progress in the establishment and operational process of Shaheed Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University, a long-awaited institution tied to the aspirations of the people of Sudurpaschim Province.
The Shaheed Dasharath Chand National Health Sciences University Concern and Coordination Committee expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Health and Population, urging them to expedite the implementation of the university. A memorandum signed by the committee’s Secretary Dharmasingh Kunwar, Co-Coordinator Ananda Prasad Bhatta, and Coordinator Lokraj Pandey described the university’s establishment as a historic achievement. It stated that the institution, born from the sustained struggle and vision of the people of Sudurpaschim, will serve as a milestone in advancing health education, research, and healthcare services across the region.
The committee has called for the immediate implementation of the university in Geta, Dhangadhi, along with the prompt initiation of necessary administrative and academic processes. The memorandum further demanded the swift appointment of key officials, including the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar.
Additionally, the committee urged the government to expedite the operation of a 600-bed hospital and to begin MBBS courses from the upcoming academic session 2082. It expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Health and Population for its active role and attention in facilitating the university’s implementation.
Emphasizing that the successful establishment of the university in the far west is vital for the balanced development of science, education, and healthcare services, the committee submitted the memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Health and Population, and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology through the Chief District Officer of Kailali.
