Teacher found dead in Doti, education officer detained for investigation

Dhangadhi: A 27-year-old teacher, Janaki Khadka, from Purbichauki Rural Municipality-1 in Doti, was found hanging near her residence. According to Police Inspector Ramchandra Joshi of the District Police Office, Doti, a detailed investigation into the incident is underway.

Police have detained Ganesh Rawal, an education officer at the Education Coordination Unit in Doti, in connection with the case. “An investigation has been initiated against Rawal on charges of abetment to suicide,” Inspector Joshi said.

Authorities discovered a suicide note at the scene written in Rawal’s name, prompting further investigation. The body of the deceased has been kept at the District Hospital, Doti, for postmortem examination.

Khadka was employed at Bhanodaya Secondary School in Budhiganga Municipality-5, Bajura. She had previously taught at Discovery School in Dhangadhi and had secured a permanent position through the Teachers Service Commission.

According to police, the deceased was unmarried, while the detained Rawal is divorced.
