Dhangadhi: Following the disruption caused by the Genji movement, government offices in Kailali have begun restoring operations and regaining normalcy.

Janakraj Bhatta, Survey Officer at the Land Revenue Office, stated that agencies are working to return to their previous rhythm by cleaning and repairing offices damaged by vandalism and arson. These offices, which typically serve hundreds of citizens daily, have partially resumed services. During the protests, computers, printers, and other materials were vandalized, and offices were looted and set on fire.

The Customs Office has fully resumed operations from its garage. Similarly, the District Administration Office has restarted citizenship services after receiving support such as computers and tables from various agencies. The Kailali District Court, Transport Management Office, and Survey Office have also partially resumed services, serving heavily crowded offices.

The Transport Management Office, which had halted services for a week following the arson, resumed partial operations on Thursday. Officer Shyam Joshi said that cleaning and repairs have been completed, and work including vehicle renewal, registration, tax collection, route permits, and inspections has resumed. However, services related to driving licenses remain suspended due to extensive damage to two floors of the office, with vehicle-related documents destroyed by fire.

The Survey Office has also partially resumed work, though computers and other materials were vandalized. Survey Officer Bhatta noted that full operations depend on the resumption of services at the Land Revenue Office, which is still under repair. Land Revenue Officer Prem Bahadur Daulyal stated that it will take about a week to fully resume services after ongoing repair work.

The Kailali District Court has also started partial services. Shrestedar Janakraj Pant stated, “We have reached zero, but habeas corpus petitions are being registered and heard to ensure accountability to citizens.” He added that tasks such as issuing arrest warrants and extending detainee time limits have resumed, while other work remains temporarily postponed.
