Young entrepreneur from Dhangadhi earns Rs 60,000 monthly through pickle business

Kailali: Young entrepreneur Karan Air from Kailali has been successfully running the Shanti Batika Fruit Processing Industry in Bangraktan, Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-9 for the past eight years.
From this small-scale industry, Air produces and sells a variety of pickles made from mango, amla, lemon, copper, garlic, Akbar chili, bitter gourd, radish, and more. He shared that the business, which began with a modest investment, now generates a monthly turnover of Rs 150,000, with a net profit of around Rs 60,000 after expenses.

“This business supports a family of 11 and provides employment to three locals,” said Air. “After covering family expenses and staff salaries, I’m still able to save a decent income.”

His pickles, produced year-round, are popular in markets across Dhangadhi, Attariya, Tikapur in Kailali, and Mahendranagar in Kanchanpur. Air attributes this popularity to the use of local ingredients and the absence of any adulteration. “We don’t use anything harmful to health. We maintain the right balance of salt, oil, spices, and other ingredients, and no customers have complained,” he added.
While many youths seek opportunities abroad, Air has chosen to remain in Nepal and build a sustainable livelihood. “If you know what you’re doing, success is possible at home too. This business feeds 11 family members and provides jobs. The best part is earning while staying close to your family, friends, and community — that’s real happiness,” he said.
