Kanchanpur: Residents of Shuklaphanta Municipality have raised demands for the establishment of police posts in remote areas, particularly to cover Wards No. 6, 7, and 8, to address rising incidents of theft and crime.

Keshav Thagunna, a ward member of Shuklaphanta-7, emphasized the necessity of police posts, citing recent robberies in the area. "More than four houses were robbed at once. If there had been a police post, such incidents could have been prevented," he said, urging for strategically located police posts to enhance security.

Naval Singh Rana, Chairman of Shuklaphanta-12, suggested relocating the temporary police post in Ward No. 1 to a position between Wards No. 1 and 12 for better accessibility. Mayor Rana Bahadur Mahara confirmed that the municipal executive has proposed establishing a police post between Wards No. 7 and 8, forwarding the recommendation to the District Security Committee.

"There is a critical need for a police post in this area," Mayor Mahara stated. "The remoteness of the location delays police response, allowing criminals to escape. A local police post is essential to ensure peace and security."

Superintendent of Police Chakraraj Joshi at the District Police Office reported that the District Security Committee has approved the recommendation and sent it to the Ministry of Home Affairs. He noted that plans are underway to evaluate the relocation of existing police posts in Wards No. 1 and 12 based on security needs.
