Dhangadhi expands cremation services to neighbouring areas
Dhangadhi — The Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city has announced an extension of its cremation and body humidification services to neighboring municipalities.
Since Mangsir of last year, the city has been providing body humidification services, which will now also be available to local levels bordering Dhangadhi. On Thursday, the sub-metropolitan enhanced its service capacity by purchasing two additional body humidifiers, raising the total to five.
Municipal mayor Gopal Hamal stated that citizens in Godawari Municipality, Gauriganga Municipality, and Kailari Rural Municipality will now have access to body humidification services. Additionally, this service will be extended to Krishnapur and Punarwas municipalities in Kanchanpur.
Body humidors are used to preserve deceased bodies until relatives, particularly those living abroad, can return home to participate in last rites. This service was introduced to address the challenges faced by families with members living away from home.
The sub-metropolitan city has been providing this service through the Chisyan Sewa City Police. Upon receiving a call, the city police deliver the humidification device to the deceased's home and later assist in transporting the body to the sub-metropolitan before the final rites.
Deputy mayor Kandakala Kumari Rana mentioned that the expansion of this service was driven by the demand from citizens in neighboring areas and a desire to address their needs effectively. With this initiative, residents of five local levels in Kailali and Kanchanpur will benefit from the enhanced cremation services, ensuring timely and respectful handling of their deceased relatives.
