Air Quality Station to be Installed in Dhangadhi to Combat Pollution
Dhangadhi: In an effort to monitor and address air pollution levels, an 'Air Quality Station' will be installed in Dhangadhi, Kailali.
The Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city is set to conduct a feasibility study to initiate this project, aiming to measure the air pollution levels in the area effectively. As the monsoon season ends, air pollution tends to increase, impacting the health and well-being of the residents.
Natural gases and particles in the air are exacerbated by human activities such as vehicle emissions, industrial activities, open burning of garbage, and roadside dust. These factors contribute significantly to urban air pollution.
Air pollutants are primarily divided into gases and particulates (mixed solids and liquids). The most common harmful gases include nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide.
Particulate matter (PM), which consists of solid and liquid particles of varying diameters, is another major air pollutant affecting human health. Currently, Dhangadhi lacks equipment to measure air pollution levels, making it difficult to gauge the environmental quality accurately.
Recognizing this gap, the sub-metropolitan municipality has decided to include the installation of air quality monitoring devices in its policy and program for the next financial year.
This initiative aims to provide immediate and accurate information on air quality, helping to safeguard public health and improve environmental conditions in Dhangadhi.
