New Digital Peace Museum Inaugurated in Vanakatta, Kailali
Dhangadhi: A Digital Peace Museum has been inaugurated at Kailari Rural Municipality-6, Vanakatta, Kailali, marking a significant step towards commemorating the victims of the armed conflict and promoting social harmony.
Established under the Civic Participation Project for Social Harmony, spearheaded by the Women's Single Women's Group for Human Rights with support from the German government's KU RVE Koorwe Uistro, the museum stands as a testament to remembrance and reconciliation. The project, including the construction of the museum, has been realized at a total cost of 9 lakhs.
Ved Awasthi, the project officer for Far West Province, expressed that the Peace Museum serves as a tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives during the conflict. Holding records of 552 victims from Kailali, including 78 individuals from Kailari Rural Municipality, the museum symbolizes a collective effort towards healing and understanding.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Friday, saw the presence of distinguished guests, including Shivraj Bhatt, Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Far West, who officiated the event. Additionally, Kailali rural municipality chairman Rajsamj Chaudhary, ward president Prem Bahadur Chaudhary, and provincial MP Khima Devi Bista graced the occasion, emphasizing the importance of fostering peace and reconciliation within the community.
