Mahara family receives 16 lakhs as compensation for their son's demise

Dhangadhi: A 12-year-old Pawan Mahara of Byans Rural Municipality-2 who passed away after being hit by a rock that fell while the an Indian company was constructing the Tawaghat-Lipulekh road by exploding gelatin has given compensation to the victim's family.

Garg & Garg Company, which is constructing the Tawaghat-Lipulek road, has provided Nepalese rupees 16 lakh as compensation to the victim's family after a discussion with the Nepali administration and people's representative of Dharchula at the SDM office in Dharchula on Saturday. According to the agreement reached with the victim, Garg & Garg Company has provided 16 lakhs (10 lakhs Indian currency) as compensation according to Darchula Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tarkaraj Pandey.

According to DSP Pandey, the child died after being hit by a piece of rock that fell when the company was exploding gelatin while constructing the road. Similarly, his elder sister, 14-year-old Sarina Mahara, was also injured in the incident. She is being treated at the district hospital. Her condition is said to be normal now. It has also been agreed that both sides should give prior information when gelatin is exploded in the coming days.

In this incident, the relatives of the deceased have agreed to recover the child's body after the Indian company paid compensation. Police said that the dead body kept in the district hospital for examination will be handed over to the family after completion of the procedure.
