Government Releases Rs 1.35 crores to 15 Local Levels in Five Flood-Affected Districts

Kathmandu: The government has released Rs 1.35 crores to 15 local levels in five districts affected by flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa. The amount was released to the local levels in two phases.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, immediately after the flood in the Trishuli River through the Bhotekoshi, the government decided to provide Rs 10 lakhs each to Rasuwa and Nuwakot and Rs 5 lakhs to Dhading. Subsequently, Rs 65 lakhs was released on Bhadra 12 and another Rs 65 crore on Bhadra 16, bringing the total to Rs Rs 1.35 crores.

Similarly, Rs 30 lakhs has been released to Bidur Municipality in Nuwakot, Rs 15 lakhs to Belkotgadhi Municipality, Rs 50 crore to Kispang Rural Municipality and Rs 10 lakhs to Tarakeswar Rural Municipality.

In Dhading, Rs 60 lakhs has been released to Galchhi Rural Municipality, Rs 40 lakhs to Siddhalek Rural Municipality, Rs 40 crore to Gajuri Rural Municipality and Rs 40 lakhs to Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, according to the Authority.

The Authority also said Rs 40 lakhs has been released to Gandaki Rural Municipality in Gorkha, Rs 40 lakhs to Devghat Rural Municipality in Tanahun and Rs 40 lakhs to Aanbukhairani Rural Municipality.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers said the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund have so far accumulated Rs 7 crore 88 lakh 57 thousand 217.

After Rs 10 crore was released to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on Bhadra 16, the funds now have a balance of Rs 6 crore 88 lakh 57 thousand 217. In addition, an additional US $6,141,702 has been deposited in the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
