Kathmandu: Today, Dog Tihar and Lakshmi Puja fall on the same day, according to Nepal Panchang Judging Development Committee. Although the Lakshmi Puja is held on the day after Crow Tihar, this year due to the change in date, Dog Tihar and Lakshmi Puja fell on the same day. Shrikrishna Adhikari informed.

Crow Tihar was celebrated on Sunday, the first day of Tihar, the second biggest festival of Nepali people. Today the dog festival is celebrated by giving food to the dogs. There is a religious belief that if you worship a dog, the dogs named Shyam and Sabal, who act as gatekeepers at the door of Yamlok, will open the path.

Today is also known as Naraka Chaturdashi. It is a religious belief that if you go to various shrines, rivers or ponds in the morning, take a bath, do tarpan and light the Yamadeep and turn it towards the south, you will not go to hell after death.

Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, is worshiped in the evening. It is a religious belief that if you worship Lakshmi with devotion by keeping your house and yard clean, you will be blessed with wealth. Cow Puja falls on Tuesday, October 25th (Karthik 8th). Gorupuja, Halitihar, Gowardhanpuja, Balipuja and Atma (Mah) Puja are on Wednesday 26th of October (Karthik 9th). There is a scriptural saying that on the day of Kartik Shukla Pratipada, cows, bulls, cows and self (Mah) should be worshipped. According to the classical saying that the new year should be celebrated on the same day as the sun rises on Pratipada day, Nepal Sambat 1143 also starts from this day.

The main day of Tihar falls on the 27th of October (10th Karthik). According to the Nepal Panchang Adjudicatory Development Committee, the best time for Bhaitika is 11:37 am.
