8 prisoners of Kailali prison pardoned

Dhangadhi: General amnesty has been granted to 8 prisoners in Kailali Jail who are serving imprisonment on various charges.

On the occasion of Constitution Day, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, President Bidya Devi Bhandari released the remaining 8 people, including four who were sentenced to imprisonment for murder.

Ram Bahadur Khatri, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for murder, and who was living in Phulbari in Dhangadhi, Nripa Saud of East Chowki Rural Municipality-1 in Doti, Keshav Jakha of Nainarapur in Banke and Vishal Chaudhary of Joshipur Rural Municipality-4 in Kailali, the jailer Nar Bahadur of Kailali Jail, have been released. All four of them had already served 9 years of imprisonment.

Similarly, Dhan Bahadur Shahi of Janaki Rural Municipality-1, Tribhuwan Chand of Gauriganga Municipality-8, Subas Thapa and Deepak Adhikari of Chure Rural Municipality-3, who are serving prison terms for manslaughter, have also been released.

Among them, Chand and Shahi have already paid 40 percent for being sentenced to five years imprisonment, while Thapa and Adhikari have been sentenced to three years imprisonment and they have also been exempted from half of their imprisonment.
