Landslide in Achham: 22 dead bodies were recovered, treatment of the injured continues

Dhangadhi: All the bodies of 22 people who were buried due to incessant rains after their house collapsed due to landslides have been exhumed. With the discovery of the body of 13-year-old Sundar Shahi of Turmakhand on Sunday morning, it has been confirmed that 22 people died due to a landslide in one night. Minaraj Acharya, Administrative Officer of District Administration Office Achham, informed that 22 dead bodies were recovered in four locations on Friday with the activities of locals, Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday morning.

It has been confirmed that nine people died in Turmakhand Rural Municipality-5 Nada when the house was destroyed by a landslide that came from above. Similarly, seven people died in Kamalbazar municipality-6 Veerpath and five people died in the same municipality-8 Dungala, district administration office Achham has informed. 45-year-old Netra Shahi, 35-year-old Manisha Shahi, 17-year-old Vimala Shahi, 16-year-old Janaki Shahi, 17-year-old Kalpana Shahi, 1-year-old Karishma Shahi, 13-year-old Sundar Shahi, 20-year-old Bhavna Shahi and 3-year-old Nelina Shahi have been confirmed dead in Nada.

Local Janak Bahadur Shahi informed that nine people from the two houses were killed when the house of Netra Bahadur Shahi and Rit Bahadur Shahi collapsed due to a landslide from above the house around 3 o'clock on Friday night. Similarly, it has been confirmed that 26-year-old Gange Damai, 23-year-old Bhana Damai, seven-year-old Dikra Damai, four-year-old Kalpana Damai and three-year-old Srishti Damai died in the collapse of Thire Damai's house in Dungala, Kamalbazar Municipality-8. Similarly, on Saturday, a two-year-old Naveen Budha died after a landslide buried his house in Dhakari rural municipality-6 Dhungachalna. 65-year-old Harak Budha, 25-year-old Chandradevi Budha, 12-year-old Dharma Budha were seriously injured in the incident and were rescued and taken to Surkhet by helicopter. It is said that in the same Rural Municipality-1 Dhakari, Moti Budha Jaisi is still missing after being washed away by the river and is being searched for.
