Demand of Kailali farmers for providing manure, protest of Chief Minister
Dhangadhi: Farmers of Kailali have submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding an end to the acute shortage of chemical fertilizers. The All Nepal Federation of Farmers has handed over a memorandum to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba through the Acting Chief District Officer of Kailali, Yagya Raj Joshi.
In a memorandum signed by Jayarup Khatiwada, president of the All Nepal Federation of Farmers, Kailali, there is an acute shortage of fertilizer in the country at the time when farmers are planting the main crop. "It cannot be said that the decline in agricultural production due to non-availability of fertilizers on time will not lead to food security. We demand an end to the acute shortage in the supply of chemical fertilizers and easy availability of fertilizers," they ask.
The government has also demanded relief by reducing the price of petroleum products. The Federation of Farmers has also protested in front of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of the Far West. Despite preparing to hand over the memorandum to Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatt, the farmers have returned saying that his secretariat did not provide time.
However, the Office of the Chief Minister and the Office of the Council of Ministers has claimed that there was a problem as the farmers came to submit the memorandum when Chief Minister Bhatt was not in the office.
