The encroachment of the rivers is being removed in Dhangadhi
Dhangadhi: The Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan municipality of Kailali has started removing encroachments on rivers. As the main reason for the inundation of Dhangadhi is the encroachment of the river, the encroached area has been evacuated.
Mayor of the sub-metropolis Gopal Hamal said that the encroached area will be vacated from today as the problem of flooding of Dhangadhi will not be solved until the encroachment on the river is removed.
"Work has started to remove the encroachment of the river from Shree Bal Bihani school in Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan ward no. 5, Taranagar. I appeal to all the people of Dhangadhi to help in removing the river encroachment." Mayor Hamal said.
The problem of drowning is seen as the biggest problem in Dhangadhi, said Hamal. "We have started demolishing the structures that were built to stop the natural flow. In order to solve the problem of flooding, first of all, it is necessary to allow the natural streams and rivers to flow naturally." he said.
Hamal also urged the people of the sub-metropolis to remove the encroached area themselves. He also requested to support the sub-metropolitan's campaign to save Dhangadhi from flooding. Dhangadhi sub-metropolis has been inundated due to the encroachment on rivers. The Kailali river of Dhangadhi is most affected by encroachment.
