Daiji-Jogbudha road damaged while being repaired due to flooding
Dhangadhi: The length of the road from Daiji of Kanchanpur to Melauli via Jogbudha of Dadeldhura is 82 kilometers.
The Infrastructure Office, Kanchanpur, has signed a contract for blacktop of 16 kilometers of road from Daiji Bazaar to Chure.
Despite the 17-kilometer stretch from Daiji to Lipna, one kilometer of road has not been contracted. Out of Rs 21 crore, only 16 kilometers of road has been contracted. But the road was flooded before the completion of the work. The blacktop of the road in the Bedkot Lake area has been washed away by rain water.
A construction company has started road maintenance work in the area, said Deepak Negi, chief engineer of the infrastructure office, Kanchanpur.
"We have contracted for 16 kilometers of blacktop from Daijibazar to Danda. Rain water has destroyed the road. Landslides have occurred.
The walls are broken," he said. "We have demanded a budget for the new landslide affected areas. We have sent the file to the ministry."
The length of Attaria-Dadeldhura-Baitadi is about three hundred kilometers. Construction of Daiji-Jogbudha road has been started from 2036 BS for short distance road transport of citizens of Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Bajhang and Darchula. However, 82 kilometers of roads have not been tarred for 42 years.
The Far Western State Government has allocated Rs. 5.5 crore for road construction in the current Fiscal Year. Shyam Bahadur Khadka, chief of the Infrastructure Office, Dadeldhura, said that the contract was signed despite the new contract program with the previous contracts.
"The work of black paper is in process. Drainage is being constructed. About 2 km has been blackened," said Khadka. If the road construction work is completed, the distance from Terai to Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Darchula and Bajhang will be reduced by half. The far-western state government had included the only track named as the road of provincial pride.
The Road Division Office Mahendranagar and Kulpate Doti have handed over the Rs. 50 crore to the Far-Western Government after investing around Rs. 50 crore in the Daiji-Jogbudha road.
In the Dadeldhura area, 2 kilometers of roads have been tarred. According to the Infrastructure Office, Dadeldhura, preparations are underway for a contract agreement for the construction of three kilometers of road in the current fiscal year.
The Infrastructure Office Mahendranagar has been entrusted with the construction of the road from Daiji to Lipna and above Dadeldhura.
