Upgradation of Dhangadhi Airport: Survey completed, Council of Ministers appoints a preliminary officer

Dhangadhi: A team has returned to Kathmandu to survey the land required for upgrading Dhangadhi Airport. A team deployed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal for the survey has returned to Kathmandu after completing its work. 

Chief of Dhangadhi Airport Ram Krishna Bhatta said that a technical team had surveyed to acquire 258 bighas of land. According to him, the survey report has also been submitted to the authority. However, Dhangadhi Airport Chief Bhatta said that it would take some time to make the report public as the data extracted by the survey and the digital map with the surveyor had to be matched.

"The survey team has returned from work," he said, adding that the cabinet meeting had also appointed a preliminary acquisition officer. No other work will move forward soon. ' 
Chief of the airport office Ram Krishna Bhatt has been appointed as the preliminary acquisition officer to acquire the land for Dhangadhi Airport. There is a provision that the responsibility of determining the compensation should be given to the Chief District Officer. At the same time, the work of Dhangadhi Airport expansion is expected to pick up speed.

The 392nd meeting of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had decided to pass a map to expand Dhangadhi Airport as a regional airport. Also, a proposal to acquire 258 bighas of land was passed. At present, the airport has a runway of 1800 meters and a separate runway of 2550 meters will be constructed for upgrading. 

"There are plans to use the existing runway as a taxiway," said Murari Bhandari, an engineer with the Civil Aviation Authority.
