Dhangadhi: Three and a half years after the rape and murder of Nirmala Pant, a teenager from Kanchanpur, the mystery of the incident has not been revealed. A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the state police office, and the district police officers continued the investigation but could not reveal the secret.

According to Umaprasad Chaturvedi, Chief Superintendent of Police, Kanchanpur, the incident is still under investigation. "The routine investigation is ongoing," he said, adding that "the day the evidence is found, the incident will be resolved." Is it possible to get results from a DNA test when vaginal swab collection is defective? To the question, SP Chaturvedi said, "You are right. Police have not tried to get results from DNA alone.

He is also looking for other facts. ' An Indian national has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the Nirmala case. The family of the arrested Indian national had been cultivating vegetables not far from the place where Nirmala's body was found.

He had gone to India after being paralyzed in the first phase of the Corona epidemic. He had come to Nepal only a short time ago. The police officer said that some of the Indian nationals were arrested as their activities were suspicious. The person's DNA is being tested.

However, since the vaginal swab collection itself is defective, the chances of DNA test results are low. Nirmala's murder case is still being investigated by a joint dedicated team of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, State Police, and National Investigation. It is said that most of the financial resources and manpower of the state were used in this incident. However, Nepal Police has not been able to find the killer. Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police and Senior Superintendent of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar also said that investigation is underway. "It is not possible to say what came out," he told Dinesh Khabar. "Nepal Police is investigating from different angles."

What is the Nirmala episode? Nirmala Pant, 13, of Ultakham in Bhimdatta Municipality of Kanchanpur has went missing from her friend's house on July 26. The next day, his body was found in a sugarcane field one kilometer away from his house. A medical report came after Nirmala was raped and killed. About a month after the incident, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police made public Dilip Singh Bista as the accused. Locals protested saying that Bista was not guilty.

Bista was released after the DNA found in the vaginal swab did not match. Police accused him of trying to evade the real culprit by posing as a fake person. Police including the then Kanchanpur police chief Dilliraj Bista were sacked for serious negligence in crime investigation and destruction of evidence. Police including SP Bista, who was sacked through departmental action, was cleared by the court.

Although the CIB sent various teams every two months, the accused could not be traced. Another youth was shot dead by the police during the agitation for Nirmala's justice.
