Country records 2,817 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours

Kathmandu :  The country recorded a total of 2,817 new cases of the coronavirus infection out of 12,311 sample tests in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. 

With the latest announcement, the total number of infected reached 194,453 in the country. In a press briefing, Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr Jageshwor Gautam, said that a total of 1,540,077 PCR tests were carried out so far. 

He said that the Kathmandu valley witnessed a total of 1,533 new cases. Of them, 1,294 are from Kathmandu, 162 from Lalitpur and 77 from Bhaktapur district. There are 35,419 active coronavirus cases in the country till today. 

A total of 6,222 coronavirus infected people are in institutional isolation facilities while 29,197 are in home isolation facilities. Similarly, altogether 1,149 people are in quarantine facilities across the country.  

A total of 398 coronavirus infected people are receiving treatment in ICU beds and 82 are in ventilators across the country, Dr Gautam shared.

According to the Ministry, the recovery rate in the country is 81.1 per cent. So far, 157,926 persons recovered from the Covid-19 including 2,812 in the past 24 hours.

Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kavre, Makawanpur, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Kaski, Nawalparasi East, Rupandehi and Dang districts have more than 500 active coronavirus cases. Manang district has no active case of the virus.

Likewise, 21 persons succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours. With this, the number of deaths caused due to coronavirus infection reached 1,108. -RSS
