5 people donate plasma for the treatment of Coronavirus in Far-West
Dhangadhi: Five people who recovered from Coronavirus have donated plasma for plasma therapy at Seti Provincial Hospital.
Plasma extracted from the donated blood will be kept safe by the Red Cross. Expressing gratitude to the five people who donated plasma for the infection, Far-Western Social Development Minister Krishna Raj Subedi said that he would take initiative to set up blood collection centers for plasma therapy in all the nine districts of the state.
Dr. Sher Bahadur Kumar, head of the treatment department for COVID-19 at Seti Provincial Hospital, said that only critically ill patients would the plasma therapy. He said, ‘The Red Cross will collect the blood of the people that have recovered from the virus.
Blood donation can be done 14 days after recovering from the virus. If serious cases of Coronavirus are found, Seti Provincial Hospital in collaboration with Nepal Red Cross Society Kailali will provide plasma therapy.
It has been claimed that antibodies made in the body of an infected person can be killed by injecting plasma into the infected person. Since the body of a person who has recovered Coronavirus produces antibodies to fight the virus, plasma is released and transfused to the infected patient.
