Dogadakedar Rural Municipality: Mothers who give birth to a girl child to receive an allowance

The Dogadakedar Rural Municipality of Baitadi has decided to give incentive allowance to mothers who give birth to daughters. The municipality has decided to give incentive allowance to 213 mothers in the municipality who gave birth to daughters last year.

Narendra Nath, head of the health branch of the village, said that the mothers who have given birth to daughters by going to the health institutions will be given incentives and allowances to improve the nutritional status of the infants.

He said that incentive allowance is being given to mothers to spread the message that children are equal and to eliminate discrimination.

The state government had been providing Rs. 2,000 as transportation expenditure in case of institutional delivery and Rs. 800 for regular health check up during pregnancy. However, now the mother’s that deliver a girl child will be entitled to 3800 from the state government.
