Far-West celebrates Balke festival

The 'Balke' festival is being celebrated across Far West today. The festival is celebrated in various hilly districts including Kailali and Kanchanpur. Balke, which is celebrated on Bhadra 1, means 'Koseli' meaning 'gift'.

Krishna Raj Joshi, a local priest of Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis-2, said that bathing in the morning

and offering milk, curd, honey and vegetables to friends, relatives and neighbors is considered auspicious.
