8 gamblers arrested in Kailali

Dhangadhi: Eight gamblers have been arrested in Kailali along with Rs 81,000 in cash. A police team deployed from Area Police Office of Lamki arrested the gamblers along with cash on the basis of an information regarding them gambling at Dipali Hotel and Lodge in Lamkichuha Municipality Ward No. 1, bus park last night.

Ram Raj Jaishi age 32, Laxman Budhathoki age 36, Jivan Adhikari age 33, and Dhamindra Rawal age 30, of Lamkichuha Municipality-1 have been arrested.

Pawan Thapa age 20, of the same place, Prakash Shahi age 33, of Ward No. 2, Puran Bik age 33, of Ward No. 4 and Akkal Shahi, a resident of Ghodaghodi Municipality-1 have also been arrested, said Pratik Bista, spokesperson of District Police Office of Kailali.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bista said that action would be taken against the eight arrested under the Gambling Act. Under the Act, there is a provision of three months imprisonment or a fine of Rs 30,000 for the first time, one year imprisonment for the second time and a fine of Rs 50,000.
