6,000 houses flooded in Kailali, 2,000 displaced, three missing

Dhangadhi: More than 6,000 families have been inundated in Kailali district due to continuous rain for the past two days. Two thousand of them have been displaced.

Joshipur and Bhajani municipalities are the most affected by the floods. According to the District Administration Office, 2,180 families in Bhajani have been affected by the floods.
Similarly, 2315 families have been affected in Joshipur village municipality. Similarly, 1,000 families in Janaki and 825 families in Tikapur had their houses flooded.

Floods have destroyed 30 houses in Tikapur. Chief District Officer of Kailali, Yagya Raj Bohara, said that teams from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army has been deployed to rescue the familys trapped due to the flood.

Displaced families are housed on school and postal roads. Similarly, search for three people who went missing in the floods in Kailali is underway.

Three people from Kailali have been rescued while three others are still missing. Ishwar Shah age 40, of Khaurpur in Bhajani Municipality-8, Kailali, Chakra BK age 33, and Scale Chaudhary, 11, of Janakpur have gone missing, said Janak Dhami, Inspector at the Area Police Office of Bhajani.

He said that they were swept away by the floods of Patharaiya and Kandra rivers. Balaram Chaudhary age 40, of Bhajani-8, who went missing in the river on Wednesday afternoon, has been rescued. Similarly, Bikki Shahi and Hemant Shahi of the same ward have also been rescued by the police team.
