Division Forest forms an investigation committee
Division Forest has formed an investigation committee under the coordination of Sher Bahadur Bhandari, Head of Sub-Division Office Chaumala after the chairperson of Sunpal Community Forest along with other members of the community forest was accused of smuggling timber from the National Forest Area and selling it to consumers, members and timber mills.
An employee of Sub-Division Forest Office, Badapur has allegedly been accused of being involved. Division Forest investigation team has confiscated 300 logs of wood from members of the community forest and timber mills. However, they have been unable to inspect the whole of the forest area as they are yet to recover 12 trees that have been chopped from the dense areas of the forest.
Division Forest Officer Mr. Ram Chandra Khadel said that he is sensitive towards this issues and will file a case for further actions to be taken. The Police had also arrested Hemant Pariyar of Bagmara, Lamichuha Municipality, last Thursday for smuggling of timber.
