Far West, unable to finalise tourist destinations for Visit Nepal 2020

Visit Nepal 2020 is around the corner but two main tourist attractions in Far West region have not been finalised. However, the state's tourism ministry said, the matter would be concluded only after consulting the MPs.

The first meeting of the Tourism Promotion Committee, held on November 7, had discussed how to proceed in the promotion of tourist destinations. According to the annually approved program of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Environment, one constituency is suppose to develop as a tourist destination. Bhoj Raj Pathak said, "the decision would be made after a discussion with the MPs.

Preparations have been made for discussions to be conducted." But the MPs from different constituencies however, have been saying that the state government has not been informed so far. The entrepreneurs hoping to double their trade and business in the tourism year are disappointed with the current scenario, as there are no arrangements made for tourists coming from across the border.

The Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries demands that maps along with names of the main tourist destination, be placed at the entrance. Jung Malla, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kanchanpur, alleged that the state government has no interest in promoting the tourist destinations.

Of the many tourist destinations announced by the federal government, six major destinations were selected in the Far West. However, the state government is yet to finalise the tourist destinations for upcoming year.
