Belongings of 14 families relocated to safety amid Jogbudha river risk

Mahendranagar: Due to the potential rise in water levels in the Jogbudha River, the belongings of 14 local families in Dodhara Chandani Municipality, Kanchanpur, were moved to a safe location today.

Prem Prakash Sigdel, Superintendent of the Armed Police Force (APF) and Chief of the No. 35 Battalion (Shaileshwari), reported that items, including food grains, belonging to 14 households in the Patara Khalla area of Ward No. 3 were relocated to Jamuna Basic School.

A police team deployed from the Border Security Company in Devisthan carried out the relocation of the materials. Hari Singh Dhanadi, the Ward Chairperson, stated that the ward and municipality had issued alerts to residents following warnings from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall.

“There is no immediate danger at the moment, but precautionary measures have been adopted,” he said. “Coordination has also been established between security agencies and local authorities for disaster response, search, and rescue operations.”

The Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police have confirmed that trained personnel and necessary disaster rescue equipment are on standby for disaster response. A “Command Post” has been established at the District Administration Office to coordinate efforts and minimize potential disaster-related damage across the district, and monitoring activities have been intensified.
