Government Declares National Mourning on Bhadra 22 for Rasuwa Flood Victims

Kathmandu: The government has decided to observe a national mourning day in honor of those who lost their lives in the Rasuwa flood.

The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting held Thursday afternoon, government spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel said.

According to Pokharel, the government will observe a national mourning day on Bhadra 22, the 13th day after the incident, in honor of those who died in the flood.

He said it has been decided to observe national mourning on Monday, Bhadra 22. The government has also decided to fly the Nepali flag at half-mast at government offices across the country and Nepali embassies and missions abroad on that day.

According to the decision, “In honor of those who lost their lives due to the unimaginable severe flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, the national mourning day, i.e. Bhadra 22, will be observed on Monday, the 13th day of the incident. On that day, the Nepali flag will be flown at half-mast at government offices across Nepal and Nepali embassies and missions abroad.”
