Father-in-Law Accused of Physically and Mentally Abusing Daughter-in-Law in Purchoudi

Baitadi: A woman in Purchoudi Municipality-10 has accused her father-in-law of subjecting her to mental and physical torture as well as indecent behavior. Locals and rights activists have demanded a fair investigation into the incident and legal action if the allegations are proven.

Drawing attention to the incident, they said violence, humiliation and inhumane treatment of women cannot be accepted under any circumstances. They urged the concerned authorities to investigate the incident and take strict action against those responsible in accordance with the law.

They said mental and physical torture is a serious issue, particularly when a daughter-in-law who has become a member of the family through marriage should be provided with respect, care and a safe environment. Locals and rights activists emphasized that a daughter-in-law is also someone's daughter and sister and that violence against her should not be taken lightly.

They also called for an end to the practice of dismissing domestic violence and injustice as a “family matter.” They stressed that families, society and all concerned bodies should raise their voices against violence and stand with the victim.

The concerned authorities have been urged to conduct a fair and factual investigation into the incident, provide justice to the victim and take legal action if the accused is found guilty.
