Far West Infrastructure Minister Bhatta forms committee to study status of multi-year contracts

Dhangadhi: Newly appointed Far West Province Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Om Bikram Bhatta ‘Saral’ has formed a committee to study the status of multi-year contracts being implemented under the ministry.

Minister Bhatta signed three decisions after assuming office on Monday. The committee, coordinated by Senior Divisional Engineer Ramchandra Khatri, Chief of the Provincial Road and Transport Management Division, includes heads of the concerned divisions of the ministry as members. The committee has been given one month to study the multi-year contracts and submit its report.

Minister Bhat said necessary decisions would be taken regarding long-pending multi-year contracts based on the committee’s report. Stating that citizens have suffered due to delays in contract implementation for years, he warned that concerned construction entrepreneurs would be reinstated and contracts that fail to progress would be cancelled.

Similarly, another committee has been formed to identify measures to reduce accidents along the highway from Chisapani in Kailali to Gaddachauki in Kanchanpur and on the Dhangadhi-Attariya road section. Engineer Khatri has also been appointed coordinator of the committee. According to Ministry Secretary Bishnu Bhandari, the committee has been given 15 days to submit its report.

Minister Bhatta said necessary measures would be taken in areas such as street lighting and traffic management to reduce road accidents. He also expressed his commitment to maintaining good governance and transparency in the ministry’s work.

Minister Bhatta further said that the province’s budget preparation process would be accelerated, with plans selected based on geography, population and local needs.
