UML submits memorandum to Far West government demanding construction of permanent capital
Dhangadhi: The CPN-UML Kailali Region No. 4 Coordination Committee has submitted a memorandum to the newly formed provincial government, demanding the construction of a permanent capital for the Far West Province along with other issues. Coordination Committee Coordinator Ganesh Jimi Saund submitted the memorandum to Chief Minister Khagaraj Bhatta, Social Development Minister Santosh Kumari Sharma (Thapa), Economic Affairs Minister Chakra Bahadur Malla and Agriculture Minister Daman Bahadur Bhandari. The memorandum expresses concern that although the Provincial Assembly had designated the Teghari area of Godavari Municipality-2 and 4 of Kailali as the permanent capital with more than a two-thirds majority on Asoj 12, 2075, the construction process has not progressed so far. The memorandum has demanded that the construction process be immediately initiated in Godavari, the declared capital of the province. It has also called for the necessary budget to be allocated, infrastructure development to be prioritized, and the land management and environmental study processes of the capital region to be completed soon. Similarly, the memorandum has demanded systematic construction of the Chowkidanda-Faltude road to expand the road network toward the hilly region and implementation of the concept of a religious circuit to promote religious tourism. Coordinator Saund said that the Chief Minister and the concerned ministers expressed positive views on the demands raised in the memorandum. According to him, the ministers have committed to advancing the necessary process and taking initiatives to implement the demands. It is expected that integrated development of road infrastructure and religious tourism along with construction of the capital could help develop the Godavari region as an important administrative, economic and tourist center of the Far West.
