Partial LPG shortage reported in Dhangadhi as administration says overall supply remains normal

Dhangadhi: A partial shortage of gas cylinders has been reported in Dhangadhi, the temporary capital of Sudurpaschim Province, after some companies stopped supplying cylinders to the market. However, the local administration has stated that it would be incorrect to describe the situation as an overall gas shortage.

Following rumors of a gas shortage, Kailali Assistant Chief District Officer Khadanand Khatri led a monitoring of gas dealers and authorized sellers in Dhangadhi on Monday. The monitoring found that while there was no overall shortage, some companies had not been supplying regularly, creating difficulties for consumers of certain brands, according to the administration.

During the monitoring, it was found that Manakamana and Bheri Gas had not supplied cylinders to the market for about a week. As cylinders from these companies had not arrived, their consumers were facing difficulties obtaining gas.

The administration warned that unconfirmed rumors of a shortage had prompted some consumers and hoteliers to stockpile more cylinders than necessary, which could create an artificial shortage in the market.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Khatri, gas sellers have been instructed not to sell more than one cylinder to a person and to provide cylinders only after identifying the customer.

The administration stated that there is currently no problem with the supply of Radiant and Shaipal gas. Khatri said that people without access to these brands, particularly students living in hostels and other members of the general public, could face difficulties if individuals stockpile more cylinders than necessary. They have also been made aware of the issue.

The local administration has warned that legal action will be taken against those found engaging in gas black marketing by creating an artificial shortage in the market.
