Doti: Despite the government’s continued priority on institutional deliveries, the trend of home births has not stopped in Doti. In the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, a total of 52 women have given birth at home in the district.

According to Kapil Dev Joshi, Information Officer at the Doti Health Office, the highest number of home deliveries were recorded in Purbichauki Rural Municipality and Adarsh Rural Municipality.

Similarly, eight women gave birth at home in Badikedar Rural Municipality, seven in Sayal Rural Municipality, five in Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality and four in Bogtan Fudsil Rural Municipality.

The Health Office stated that five women gave birth at home in Jorayal Rural Municipality, three in KI Singh Rural Municipality and two in Shikhar Municipality.

The Health Office has emphasized that institutional deliveries should be prioritized, as giving birth outside a health facility increases risks to both mothers and newborns. According to the office, reaching a health facility on time and delivering there helps manage complications that may arise during childbirth and protect the health of both mother and baby.
