Dhangadhi’s Amrit Thapa set to debut as lead actor in Nepali film ‘Adhuro Dhun: Sekiya Sarangi’

Dhangadhi: Amrit Thapa, a talented artist and dance instructor from Dhangadhi who has been active in the fields of art, music and dance in Sudurpaschim for a long time, is set to appear before audiences as the lead actor in a national-level film.

Thapa, who began his artistic journey through dance training, local cultural programs, music videos and school-level activities, has been selected for the main role in the much-awaited Nepali film ‘Adhuro Dhun: Sekiya Sarangi’.

Active in cultural festivals, fairs and musical programs across Dhangadhi and Sudurpaschim, Thapa has established his identity in both acting and dance. Along with showcasing his acting skills through various music videos, he has also been contributing to art education by providing dance training to children in different schools of Dhangadhi.

After years of continuous hard work, discipline and dedication to the arts, Thapa has received the opportunity to play the lead role in a national film. His achievement has been viewed as an inspiring example for emerging artists from Sudurpaschim.

‘Adhuro Dhun: Sekiya Sarangi’ in final preparation stage
The production team has stated that the pre-production work of ‘Adhuro Dhun: Sekiya Sarangi’, to be produced under the banner of Pat Team Collection Films Pvt. Ltd., is progressing rapidly.

The film focuses on psychological conflicts created by the modern digital era, the increasing busyness of corporate life and the declining communication within families. The film aims to artistically present the changing realities of Nepali society.

The film is being produced by Tikaram Kattel and MT Thapa. Ved Prasad Bhurtel has prepared the story, screenplay, dialogues, direction and lyrics-music, while Navraj Sharma has taken responsibility as the chief assistant director. Hotel Devoti in Dhangadhi is associated with the film as a hospitality partner.

Sarangi as a symbol of culture and generational connection
In the film, the ‘Sarangi’ has been presented not only as a musical instrument but also as a symbol of disappearing communication, cultural traditions passed from one generation to another, and the modern generation’s search for identity.

The film has prioritized live instrumental music instead of artificial digital sound. The music composed by Phadindra Rai and Maharaj Thapa is expected to further strengthen the emotional depth of the story.
