National debt collection bill 2083 passed by House of Representatives
Kathmandu: The National Debt Collection Bill, 2083 has been passed by the House of Representatives. The proposal to pass the bill, tabled by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, was unanimously approved in today’s meeting of the House.
Responding to questions raised during the clause-by-clause discussion on the bill, Finance Minister Wagle said that loans will be used for financing productive projects. “Foreign loans are earmarked for infrastructure projects. These projects are designed to streamline economic activities, reduce distances, and reduce costs,” he said. “However, the situation of the two international airports built with loans has shown a different scenario. We must monitor them.”
Earlier in the meeting, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal presented the amendments received on the bill for a decision. The amendment proposal moved by MPs Parashuram Tamang and Rekha Kumari Yadav was rejected by the meeting, while MP Hari Prasad Bhusal withdrew his amendment. The House of Representatives meeting will be held in 15 minutes today.
