Oli rejects government’s call for property details, terms it ‘Prejudiced and Revenge-Driven’
Kathmandu: CPN (UML) Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has rejected the government’s move to seek property details, describing it as a “package of prejudice and revenge.”
Addressing a two-day workshop organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Chairman Oli alleged that the formation of a new committee by the government, despite the presence of constitutional and legal bodies, was intended to target and trap opposition party leaders.
He stated that investigations can be carried out in accordance with the law if any unclaimed or excessive property is found. However, he questioned the rationale behind demanding property details in situations where property has already been destroyed.
“If someone’s excessive wealth is found, if unclaimed property is found, let them investigate. If they ask for my property details in places where they have set fire to ashes, I will fill them with ashes instead of property details,” Oli said. “Setting fire again is not enough, now they also want property details! There is ash, pick it up and take it away, government. What property details?”
Oli claimed that the government’s recent actions were driven by political bias and remarked that efforts were being made to create unnecessary controversy by targeting the opposition.
